Who is the February Client of the Month?

This week, Simply Helpful would like to feature the Irvington Wellness Center as the February Client of the Month! Congratulations, Laura Lea Sweney and The Irvington Wellness Center! We are so happy to work with you and want to tell the world about your amazing services.

The Irvington Wellness Center, located in the historic Irvington district of Indianapolis, has set its sights on providing people a healthier, happier self. Business owner, Laura Lea Sweney, has made it her mission to put her 17 years of experience to work; soothing body aches and clearing the mind with her array of unique services.

“Our main emphasis is helping people really be their most authentic selves.” Says Laura Lea. “And we do that in fun, interesting, innovative ways.” One of the Irvington Wellness Center’s newest classes, that has taken Indy by storm, is an ancient chinese based meditation style for the entire family; “Qi gong Meditation and More for Kids and their Parents.”

This connectivity class uses “the feeling of movement of energy in the body” to create relaxation, tranquility and a source of bonding between parents and their children. “Families can learn some really cool connection tools to use throughout their week.” Says Laura Lea.

The feeling of peace and calm inspired by this evening class is perfect for releasing pent up energy left over from a busy day. After a relaxing Qi gong connection class, kids will be ready to crawl into bed and bond with their parents over a good bedtime story.

“Wellness is all about feeling happier.” Laura Lea continues, “We’re trying to help people feel more connected within themselves.” Another unique class offered through the Irvington Wellness Center to feel a strong connection between body and mind is Brain Gym.

Brain Gym utilizes certain stretches, poses and movements to build mental processes. “Essentially, [Brain Gym is] a way to use movements to help…unlock different hemispheres of the brain.” Brain Gym is beneficial for a variety of mental processes including, “…writer’s block, memory function, focus and concentration.” Explains Laura Lea.

New services and classes will be popping up like daisies this March, just in time for spring at the Irvington Wellness Center. Laura Lea is excited to offer Prenatal Yoga, Kid’s Yoga and even opening up the center for field trips.

Laura Lea says, “They [school children] can come in and actually learn about wellness…reflexology points and skills [concerning] breathing and meditation.” She continues, “Another thing is hula-hooping, which is great for core-strengthening and fun for kids.”

The Irvington Wellness Center has grown leaps and bounds with the help from our Simply Helpful Stress Reliever and Founder, Tara Elder. Laura Lea says, “Simply Helpful has been a Godsend!” She goes on detailing just how difficult it can be running a small business.

“When you run a small business, you need to wear all the hats. Tara has come in and relieved me of a lot of stress. It’s invaluable to have someone to bounce an idea off of and say, ‘What do you think of this?’ or ‘How can I make this better?’ It’s nice to have someone so professional and creative. I could not have asked for someone better.”

The Irvington Wellness Center hopes to bring in more people who struggle with physical therapy issues, connectivity or want to experience Laura Lea’s “…personal passion” Zero Balancing.

Zero Balancing is a deep healing type of massage that invigorates the skeletal system. Laura Lea explains, “If you feel bone cold or bone tired… it’s a great feeling to feel bone good [after a zero balancing session].”

For the future, Laura Lea has aspiring goals, one, she giggled, is to, “…give everyone in Irvington a Zero Balancing session.” With the Irvington Wellness Center’s latest promotion, Laura Lea’s ultimate goal just might happen.

The Irvington Wellness center is now featuring Zero Balancing sessions for kids at $10 for 15 minutes and $35 for 20 minutes of any deep healing treatment, customer’s choice. “We want to build a sense of community in Irvington.” Says Laura Lea “…so people feel warm and welcome when they come here.”

As Laura Lea Sweney states, “Wellness is about feeling happier.” From novice yoga enthusiasts to expert pilates professionals, the Irvington Wellness Center welcomes all who want to increase their ‘happy factor’. “We all don’t have to be this serious ‘yogi’ sitting on a mountaintop.” Says Laura Lea. It’s about feeling like your “most authentic” self.
